4.  Kernow Carers Service

This is a free & confidential service for anyone who looks after, cares for or supports anyone with a health issue, disability or illness in Cornwall. The service offers a range of help including the following things:

  • Advice, support & guidance on what services & help are available to carers & those they care for.
  • Advocacy.
  • Assistance from a Carer Support Worker or Carer Practitioner.
  • Help with accessing an adult or carers assessment.
  • Information, advice & guidance on benefits.
  • Helping the carer plan for the future.
  • Information & guidance on respite services & researching other help available.

The service also supports Carers Forums, Support Groups, Free Training & initiatives like the “carers emergency card scheme”.

The service is delivered by a partnership of Action For Children, Cornwall Rural Community Charity & the Family Information Service. Carers can refer themselves for help by contacting the Family Information Service Helpline on 0800 587 8191 or visit the website on & click on “home” link to access more information on the carers Service.
