You can make an appointment at any of our sites by calling the surgery direct on 01726 75555 or by visiting one of our locations. Alternatively you can book doctors appointments, blood tests and smears online.
When we are closed
If you have a medical concern out of hours call 111, if it’s a medical emergency call 999.
The New Appointment System
The appointment system was changed in response to patient feedback. The new appointment system will help you to:
- Speak to your usual GP
- Get urgent advice on the same da
- Receive help from other health professionals
How the system works
- Please phone St Austell Healthcare on 01726 75555 or visit one of our sites, and speak to one of our receptionists who will ask you for a brief reason for your call in order to assign your problem to the most appropriate clinician
- If you require urgent care an appointment or telephone call back will be arranged for the same day.
- If you require planned care (non-urgent) we will aim to call you back within 5 working days, and a face to face appointment if needed will be arranged.
Please give the receptionist as much information as you feel comfortable with, as this will help the doctors to prioritise your call back.
This is for patients who need urgent medical attention within 24 hours. Examples of urgent care (an acute new medical problem) include an unwell child, ongoing coughs, infections and new pains, or a complication of an underlying condition such as asthma, cancer or diabetes.
We see most patients with urgent health problems at the Carlyon Road Health Hub. Please note this is NOT a walk-in service. The Hub is open Monday to Friday 08:00 - 20:00.
This is for patients with all non-urgent or on-going matters. We will arrange for a doctor or other health professional to phone you within the next 5 working days. If possible this will be your usual doctor. If we need to see you then a face to face appointment will be arranged.
Book appointments online
You can book doctor telephone appointments, blood tests and smears online but you must be registered to access this service. If you don’t have a SystmOne online account with us, and you would like one, please come into one of our sites with photographic ID (i.e. passport, driving license etc.) and request online access. The receptionist will set this up for you.
If there are no appointments listed online for the service you that means there are none available that day and you are advised to try again on the next working day.
Please ensure you make your appointment with an appropriate clinician because if not you may be turned away when you arrive at the surgery (i.e. booking an ear syringe in to a blood test or booking a blood test to see a doctor). If in doubt, check with the surgery before booking online.
Recent blood test results are also available online. If you have an online account and cannot view your recent blood tests, please let us know as we may need to alter your access rights. The online results page has links to provide further explanations about your results.
When making appointments please try to give as much information as you can about your problem.
