Kernow Carers Service
This is a free & confidential service for anyone who looks after, cares for or supports anyone with a health issue, disability or illness in Cornwall. The service offers a range of help including the following things:
  • Advice, support & guidance on what services & help are available to carers & those they care for.
  • Advocacy.
  • Assistance from a Carer Support Worker or Carer Practitioner.
  • Help with accessing an adult or carers assessment.
  • Information, advice & guidance on benefits.
  • Helping the carer plan for the future.
  • Information & guidance on respite services & researching other help available.
The service also supports Carers Forums, Support Groups, Free Training & initiatives like the “carers emergency card scheme”.
The service is delivered by a partnership of Action For Children, Cornwall Rural Community Charity & the Family Information Service. Carers can refer themselves for help by contacting the Family Information Service Helpline on 0800 587 8191 or visit the website on www.cornwallfisdirectory.org.uk & click on “home” link to access more information on the carers Service.

Carer Emergency Card Scheme

The Carer Emergency Card Scheme helps to provide a contingency plan if you are caught up in an emergency and are unable to get home to the person that you are caring for. For more information please visit the Cornwall Council website.
