So what exactly is ‘Social Prescribing?'
Social prescribing is a way of linking you to non-clinical support in the community. Improving your lifestyle and making changes can be very challenging. You may not be sure where to start. Social prescribing can help to give you the confidence and support you might need to make a change.
There are a fantastic range of activities and organisations in the local community. Social prescribing is about linking you to these opportunities, with the aim of improving your health and wellbeing.
The Help at Hand App is up to date with the current support available. You can contact our social prescribing team via email at [email protected]
Help at Hand App
The Help at Hand App provides you with easy access to the latest support services available in St Austell, by telephone and online. This App is available via the App Store (iPhone, iPad) or Google Play (Android). The App and most of the services listed on it are completely free of charge. Please share with your friends, family and work colleagues. We aim to make sure all these support services are available to everyone. |
Health Cornwall - St Austell Healthcare Family Cooking Sessions
On February 14th and 15th we collaborated with Healthy Cornwall to host some family cooking sessions.
The families learnt how to make their own chicken kebabs from scratch, using affordable & healthy ingredients. For an afternoon sweet treat, the group baked blueberry muffins using less sugar than store bought alternatives.
Today we welcomed new families into the kitchen for day 2 of our family cooking sessions.
We received a 5 star rating from one of the participants who loved, both, the homemade kebabs and muffins. Another participant said they really enjoyed the session, and requested that we attend their school to run a set of our workshops.
Thank you to everyone who attended the sessions, we hope you enjoyed it & learnt some new skills! Thank you to Healthy Cornwall for supporting us & helping to provide the sessions.

- Thank you to our volunteers who helped us with the washing up at the end of the day.
